Dr. Hempel and his wife Sarah are natively from the Lexington, Kentucky area. They were married in 1983 and moved to Atlanta from Winston-Salem, North Carolina in 1990. Dr. and Mrs. Hempel currently reside in the Brookhaven neighborhood of Atlanta with their two children, a 12 year old son and 10 year old daughter.
Dr. Hempel stays busy with his children's activities at The Lovett School and out in the community. His greatest enjoyment is traveling with the family several times per year. He loves to bring the camera along and share his experiences with friends, co-workers and even patients' families. Dr. Hempel's favorite sporting activities are basketball, leisure bicycle riding, and occasionally boating or camping with the kids.
