After 26 years of working at Children's Medical Group, Marietta Slemp, MS, CPNP is retiring August 27, 2020. We wish her all the best and know she will be missed by the staff and all of her patients. To My CMG family…
I can hardly believe 26 years have gone by since 150 nurse practitioner students and I were crowded into a classroom built for 30 students. Once my schooling was completed, I was lucky enough to be hired at Children’s Medical Group. Nurse practitioners were a new “breed” of health care providers, and CMG was at the forefront of using these “new kids on the block”!
With this letter, I want to officially announce that my last day is August 27, 2020. But I have to be honest…although I’m looking forward to this new and exciting chapter in my life, I’m going to miss you all. It has been a personal treat to see my patients grow to adulthood and likewise it’s been a professional honor to be chosen to care for their children. It seems like the time has just flown by.
There have been a lot of changes in those years. Century Center expanded, Conyers closed and John’s Creek opened, and we’ve established an office in Decatur too. Innumerable stacks of medical records now reside in ethereal clouds somewhere above our heads…although I still miss my pen and paper charts – especially when I get the circle of death trying to access electronic records!
Working with the CMG staff has truly been a pleasure. Together we rock, but I surely won’t miss all these Zoom meetings! Nothing can take the place of a warm hug, and be aware that each of you has made this journey a wonderful adventure. Huge hugs to all!
So…what am I going to do? Lay on the beach and drink margaritas? Hardly! My garden awaits my ever maturing “green thumb,” my yarn stash is calling my name, and there are many, many trails to be hiked.
Thanks to you all for your unwavering support and friendship, and may you have many years of health and happiness.
