This year, the 2023-2024 influenza season, there are two types of influenza vaccines available. The first is what many people call the "flu shot". The second comes as a nasal spray and is a live vaccine.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS:

If my child is scheduled for a well or problem oriented visit already, can s/he get the flu vaccine then? Yes, please let the nursing staff know you are interested in receiving one.

Can a sibling get one as well? Yes, but we ask for you to call ahead of time to make a nurse only visit with that same provider at same time as your other child so we can have the chart ready.

At what age can my child receive the flu vaccine? For the flu shot, your child must be 6 months of age and older. For the live nasal flu vaccine, your child must be 2 years old and with no medical conditions and has not received a live vaccine 4 weeks prior. If your child is 8 years old and younger and has not had a flu vaccine in the past, s/he will need a second flu vaccine booster at least 4 weeks apart from first vaccine.
