Signing In

When you arrive, please sign in. If you have waited in the waiting room for more than 15 minutes beyond your appointment or arrival time, please check with our receptionist. We attempt to see your appointments as close to their scheduled times as possible: however, emergencies may be seen first.

Non-Emergency Calls

Please call all requests for routine prescriptions and lab reports during office hours in order that we may consult your child’s records and keep them comprehensive and up to date. Calls for routine questions or prescription refills, if at all possible, should not be made after hours.

Nurse Advice

When a new illness occurs, please call our office as early in the day as possible so that we may discuss the illness with you and see your child if necessary. If we think your child should be seen, we can arrange for an early appointment. Please do not wait until evening and after hours for a problem that has been present all day.

After Office Hours

We have a telephone answering service that receives our calls. A nurse from Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta will receive your message and return your call. The nurses are highly experienced and work with physician developed protocols. Most phone calls are comfortably handled by the nurses. Occasionally the nurse or you may choose to have the Provider on call from our practice paged.

If your child is very sick, please call our office; but if the problem is of minor nature, we would appreciate your calling during weekday office hours. If your call has not been returned within 60 minutes, please call the answering service again. This is to eliminate the possibility of a wrong number being received by the doctor on call.

On Sundays and holidays, the doctor on call will usually need to see a few acutely ill children at the office. If we feel it is necessary, we would like to see you during those hours.

Appointment Schedule

We try to see all patients by appointment. Accordingly, we ask that you call in advance so that a specific time can be reserved for you.

If your child is ill, we will make every attempt to make sure that he/she will be seen that day.

Occasionally, emergencies in the office may disrupt our schedule. Please do not try to "squeeze in" another child on a sibling's appointment. When you call for an appointment, your stated preference for an individual provider will try to be met.

Occasionally, the provider of your choice will be off, out of town, or have more patients that she/he can possibly see on a given day. This does not occur frequently, but when it does, please let one of the other providers see your ill child on that visit.

Well exams can be scheduled up to about 12 months in advance. Please keep in mind that most insurance carriers only allow one well exam per calendar year for patients age 3 and older.

Please call in advance to cancel or change an appointment that you cannot make so that we may be able to see another child that needs to be seen that day. We send out email and phone reminders in advance. If you do not show up for your child's appointment, you may be charged a $50 NO SHOW FEE for each child that does not make their appointment.
